The seax was a versatile, single edged blade used by Germanic and Scandinavian cultures from the early Migration Period through the Viking Age, or roughly the 5thC through to the 11thC. The term 'seax' means 'cutting tool' or 'knife' in Old English, and was used for food preparation, cutting, carving, and then later warfare.

This particular seax is a standard, functional and rustic piece just ready to be picked up and used. With a sharp edge, this knife is practical and can be used just as it was a thousand years ago. It features a full tang, high carbon steel 'broken back' shape blade fitted to a polished wooden hilt and secured with brass end cap and accents. The hilt is decorated with bands of red stained wood that give this dagger a unique look and feel. It also comes with a fitted leather scabbard inside which the seax sits securely, and features two belt loops to attach to your waist.

A perfect seax for Dark Ages enthusiasts seeking their next collectors item, or re-enactors looking to add a sharp and practical piece to their arsenal.

Wonderful knife at a brilliant price. My only regret is not getting the damascus version for a bit more.
