Iron Age cross brooch from Norway of the Vendel Era.
This replica of this cross brooch is based on a Germanic find from Hedemark in Norway. The find dates to the 5th to 6th century AD. The find dates to the 5th to 6th century AD, i.e. the early Vendel period.
With brooches like this cross brooch, the Iron Age Germanic tribes fastened their cloaks and garments, e.g. the women their peplos, which were worn closed on the shoulders, as was common in many parts of Europe in antiquity.
It is impossible to imagine the garments of the Germanic peoples of the Iron Age without this type of fibula - it was an essential part of the costume of the Vendel Era.
